Alvaro I. Martinez Jr., M.D., FACC, Joins Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care

Board-certified cardiologist Alvaro I. Martinez Jr., M.D., has joined Baptist Health Heart & Vascular Care at Baptist Health Miami Cardiac & Vascular Institute. He has more than 25 years of experience in patient care and the management of cardiovascular conditions. He focuses on the prevention of heart disease by emphasizing risk factor modifications such as cholesterol management, blood pressure control, and healthy diet and exercise. He is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine in cardiovascular disease.

Prior to joining Baptist Health, Dr. Martinez practiced at Personalized Medicine Institute/CordiCare in Davie, Florida.

Dr. Martinez earned his medical degree at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. He completed an internal medicine internship and residency at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, D.C., and a cardiology fellowship at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach. He contributes to the medical community as a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and member of the American Heart Association.  

Dr. Martinez is committed to providing compassionate, personalized care that prioritizes his patients’ well-being. “I take time to listen to my patients, learn about their health history and goals, educate them about their condition and answer their questions,” he said. “I also encourage joy and laughter, believing that laughter can help heal the heart.”

Dr. Martinez is fluent in English and Spanish. He will see patients at two Baptist Health locations: 91550 Overseas Hwy., Suite 115, Tavernier, and 9915 NW 41 St., Suite 200, Doral.
