
Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care Stroke Programs at nine Baptist Health hospitals have earned recognition from the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association.

Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care’s stroke programs, led by Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute and Marcus Neuroscience Institute at Baptist Health hospitals, have received recognition from the American Heart Association's and the American Stroke Association’s Get With The Guidelines® – Stroke initiative.
Led by Felipe De Los Rios, M.D., stroke medical director at Miami Neuroscience Institute, and Brian Snelling, M.D., stroke director at Marcus Neuroscience Institute, nine hospital programs received at least one award for stroke care.

Baptist Health Baptist Hospital and Boca Raton Regional Hospital each received Gold Plus awards, along with Honor Roll Elite Plus status for a majority of stroke door-to-needle times under 45 minutes and Honor Roll designations for type 2 diabetes management—maintaining 80 percent or more compliance with guidelines for 12 consecutive months. They also met eligibility for Honor Roll inclusion for stroke advanced therapy, signifying that door-to-device times were 90 minutes or less for direct arriving patients or 60 minutes or less for transfer patients.
Baptist Health West Kendall Hospital and Baptist Health South Miami Hospital also earned Gold Plus recognition for meeting performance guidelines for 24 consecutive months or more, along with Honor Roll Elite Plus awards for stroke and are listed on the Honor Roll for type 2 diabetes management.

Bethesda Hospital East also attained Gold Plus recognition and Honor Roll Elite status for door-to-needle times of under 60 minutes for stroke treatment. It also earned Honor Roll designation for type 2 diabetes management.
Baptist Health Fishermen’s Community Hospital and Baptist Health Mariners Hospital each achieved Rural Gold awards for stroke care.
Baptist Health Homestead Hospital earned a Silver Plus award for compliance over the last 12 consecutive months, along with Honor Roll Elite status for door-to-needle times and Honor Roll for type 2 diabetes management.
Bethesda Hospital West also earned a Silver Plus award for compliance with stroke guidelines over the last 12 months and Honor Roll recognition for type 2 diabetes management.
Earlier this summer, The Joint Commission re-certified the Stroke Program at Baptist Hospital as an Advanced Comprehensive Stroke Center, Baptist Health Hospital | Doral was certified as "Acute Stroke Ready," and South Miami Hospital was re-certified as an Advanced Primary Stroke Center.
