Baptist Health Orthopedic Care Physician Leader Elected President-Elect of American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons

Dr. Anthony Miniaci, MD, FRCSC, Deputy Chief Medical Executive of Baptist Health Orthopedic Care, has been elected as the President-Elect of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons (ASES) for the  2024-2025 term. Dr. Miniaci’s presidency will commence in October 2025, following the ASES Annual Meeting in San Diego, California.

Dr. Miniaci’s association with ASES reflects his longstanding commitment to advancing orthopedic care.  His service with the organization has been longstanding , where he has demonstrated his dedication to the field. With a focus on clinical research and improving patient outcomes, Dr. Miniaci as Deputy Chief and Medical Executive leads a skilled team at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care  dedicated to excellent Orthopedic care as well as enhancing shoulder and elbow treatments .

Prior to his current role, Dr. Miniaci held significant positions at the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Sports Health, both in Cleveland, OH, and Toronto, Canada. He has also contributed to academia as a faculty member at the University of Toronto and Case Western Reserve University, shaping the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.

Dr. Miniaci is recognized for his extensive experience treating high-profile athletes across various sports, having worked with players in the NHL, NFL, and MLB. His previous roles include serving as the head team physician for the Cleveland Browns and an orthopedic consultant for the Toronto Blue Jays, providing him with invaluable insights into the latest advancements in orthopedic care.

In addition to his clinical and academic achievements, Dr. Miniaci has made significant contributions to ASES since joining the organization in 2000. He has held various leadership positions, including as chairperson of the ASES Foundation from 2019-2022, where he was instrumental in growing the Foundation and launching the National Shoulder and Elbow Week, an initiative aimed at enhancing shoulder care throughout North America.

“Dr. Miniaci has a long history of service to the ASES and the ASES Foundation, most notably his service as Chair of the ASESF and the growth/development of the Foundation during his tenure. He will undoubtedly continue his excellent leadership skills as ASES president,” stated Peter B. MacDonald, MD, FRCSC, ASES 2022-2023 President, in an ASES press release announcing Dr. Miniaci’s election to the ASES presidential line and will become the42nd President of ASES since its founding in 1982. Dr. Miniaci’s leadership is anticipated to foster a thriving community of orthopedic professionals dedicated to improving care for patients and athletes alike.
