Reflecting on his new role, Dr. Miniaci shared:

“What an incredible ASES meeting in San Diego this week. Congratulations to Dr. Joaquin Sanchez-Sotelo for such a successful event and year as President. I am truly humbled and privileged to be selected as 42nd President of ASES. We have some of the brightest minds from around the world and North America as our members. I really look forward to this next year, our meetings coming up with ICSES in Vancouver in September 2026 and our new Winter meeting to be held in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in February of 2027, which will combine elements of our traditional Annual Meeting but be an Open Meeting for all to see and hear the exciting things happening in the world of shoulder and elbow surgery. Thanks once again for this incredible opportunity and honor.”

As President, Dr. Miniaci will guide ASES in its mission to promote the exchange of knowledge, foster research, and enhance patient care within the subspecialty. His leadership is expected to continue strengthening collaboration among orthopedic experts globally.

Prior to his current role at Baptist Health Orthopedic Care, Dr. Miniaci held significant leadership positions at the Cleveland Clinic’s Center for Sports Health in both Cleveland, Ohio, and Toronto, Canada. A dedicated educator, he has served on the faculty at the University of Toronto and Case Western Reserve University, shaping the next generation of orthopedic surgeons.

Dr. Miniaci is widely recognized for his expertise in treating elite athletes across professional sports, including the NHL, NFL, and MLB. His extensive clinical experience, combined with his academic and organizational leadership, continues to make a profound impact on orthopedic practice and innovation.

Since joining ASES in 2000, Dr. Miniaci has held multiple leadership roles, including serving as chairperson of the ASES Foundation from 2019 to 2022, where he played a key role in growing the Foundation and launching National Shoulder and Elbow Week, an initiative aimed at improving awareness and care across North America.

“Dr. Miniaci has a long history of service to the ASES and the ASES Foundation, most notably his service as Chair of the ASESF and the growth/development of the Foundation during his tenure. He will undoubtedly continue his excellent leadership skills as ASES president,” stated Peter B. MacDonald, MD, FRCSC, ASES 2022–2023 President, in a prior announcement of Dr. Miniaci’s election to the presidential line.
