Dr. Italo Linfante Named 2025 Neurointerventional Pioneering Award Recipient

Renowned Miami Neuroscience Institute physician honored for leadership, innovation and groundbreaking stroke research

Dr. Italo Linfante, Director of Interventional Neuroradiology at Miami Neuroscience Institute, has been awarded the 2025 Neurointerventional Pioneering Award by the Society of Vascular and Interventional Neurology (SVIN). The prestigious honor recognizes senior physicians who have made exceptional contributions to the advancement of neurointervention, particularly through mentorship, leadership and innovation.

Dr. Linfante has built a distinguished career marked by clinical excellence, influential research and a deep commitment to training the next generation of neurointerventional operators. He has performed thousands of complex endovascular procedures, published over 200 papers in scientific journals, has been principal investigator or co-investigator in major clinical trials and helped shape national standards in cerebrovascular care.

He is also leading significant advancements in stroke treatment, including new devices for the endovascular treatment of cerebral aneurysms and thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke and others. He is also the principal investigator in the Hemera clinical trial. The clinical trial aims to investigate the intra venous administration of Pegylated CarboxyHemoglobin to achieve collateral flow augmentation and brain oxygen delivery as a promising new approach to neuroprotection in acute ischemic stroke patients. The study has earned FDA fast-track designation and continues to expand under his leadership.

The recognition from SVIN reflects both Dr. Linfante’s global impact and his dedication to serving patients and clinicians in South Florida and beyond. Miami Neuroscience Institute celebrates this milestone and applauds his ongoing commitment to advancing neurovascular medicine.
