Dr. Peter Gliebus Named Chief of Neurology at Marcus Neuroscience Institute

Marcus Neuroscience Institute, part of Baptist Health South Florida, at Boca Raton Regional Hospital is pleased to announce that Dr. Peter Gliebus has been appointed as Chief of Neurology.

"Dr. Gliebus is an outstanding physician, educator, and leader whose expertise and vision will further strengthen the Department of Neurology," said Dr. Warren Selman, Chief Medical Executive of Marcus Neuroscience Institute. "His appointment reflects our continued commitment to advancing neurological care and academic excellence at Marcus Neuroscience Institute."

As Chief of Neurology, Dr. Gliebus will lead the programmatic development of the Department of Neurology, ensuring the continued recruitment of both general and subspecialized neurologists. He will uphold the Institute’s commitment to clinical excellence and patient-centered care, while also fostering academic innovation through the recruitment of Marcus Scholars.

In addition, Dr. Gliebus will collaborate closely with Constance V. Katsafanas, D.O., a board-certified neurologist who serves as Director of the Neurology Residency Program at Marcus Neuroscience Institute, to advance the Neurology Residency program, ensuring the next generation of neurologists are trained with the highest standards of medical education.

Dr. Gliebus joined Marcus Neuroscience Institute in 2023, bringing with him extensive clinical, academic, and leadership experience. He obtained his Doctor of Medicine degree from Vilnius University in Lithuania, completed his neurology residency at Drexel University College of Medicine, and went on to pursue a Behavioral Neurology and Neuropsychiatry fellowship at Northwestern University.

During his tenure at Drexel University College of Medicine, Dr. Gliebus advanced through the academic ranks from Assistant Professor to Associate Professor in 2018. He served as Director of the Alzheimer’s Disease and Cognitive Disorder Center, Chair of the Department of Neurology (2017–2020), and Academic Chair of the Department of Neurology (2020–2023). His recruitment to the Marcus Neuroscience Institute in 2023 reflected his reputation for excellence in both patient care and academic leadership. He was recently appointed one of the inaugural Marcus Scholars of the Marcus Neuroscience Institute and Boca Raton Regional Hospital.

Dr. Gliebus has been recognized with honors for outstanding patient care, including the highest patient satisfaction award and designation as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor. He is an active member of the American Academy of Neurology and the Society for Behavioral and Cognitive Neurology.
