Miami Neuroscience Institute Introduces ROSA Robotic Platform to Expand Epilepsy Care

Miami Neuroscience Institute has introduced the ROSA robotic neurosurgical platform, marking the first time the technology is available at Baptist Health. The addition of ROSA is expected to enhance the Institute’s ability to diagnose and treat complex epilepsy, particularly in patients with drug-resistant or difficult-to-localize seizure disorders.

The system, which has been used in more than 40,000 procedures worldwide, assists surgeons with highly precise placement of electrodes for stereo-EEG and supports minimally invasive treatments such as laser ablation. ROSA is associated with lower complication rates, shorter operating times and improved workflow efficiency compared with traditional approaches.

The implementation of the technology is being led by neurosurgeon, Director of Epilepsy Surgery and Deputy Director of Miami Neuroscience Institute, Dr. Aviva Abosch, whose expertise in epilepsy surgery and stereotactic techniques is central to expanding these capabilities at the Institute. With the arrival of ROSA, Miami Neuroscience Institute joins a growing number of leading epilepsy centers across the country adopting robotic assistance to improve outcomes for patients with complex neurological conditions.
