Tamara Jordan, D.O., MPH, Joins Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute as a Sleep Medicine Physician
Sleep medicine physician Tamara Jordan, D.O., MPH has joined Baptist Health Miami Neuroscience Institute. Her clinical interests include sleep apnea, insomnia, narcolepsy and sleep-related movement disorders. She evaluates and treats sleep disorders that can affect a patient’s overall health, daytime function and quality of life.
Dr. Jordan earned her medical degree from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and a Master of Public Health from Michigan State University College of Human Medicine. She completed an internal medicine residency and sleep medicine fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit. During her internal medicine residency, she proudly cared for underserved inner-city populations and extended her impact by volunteering at community health fairs.

Before becoming a physician, Dr. Jordan worked as a medical technologist at Henry Ford Hospital, performing and reviewing laboratory testing for hospitalized and outpatient patients. She later served as a research assistant and teaching assistant at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine, where her work focused on health equity, community engagement and public health research.
“We are pleased to welcome Dr. Jordan to our team and look forward to the important role she will play in helping patients improve their health and quality of life,” said Michael McDermott, M.D., system chief executive of Baptist Health Brain & Spine Care and the Irma & Kalman Bass Distinguished Endowed Chair in Clinical Neuroscience at Miami Neuroscience Institute. “Dr. Jordan’s training in sleep medicine and public health will strengthen our ability to provide thoughtful, individualized care for patients with sleep disorders.”
Dr. Jordan has contributed to peer-reviewed research on food insecurity, chronic disease, community health and healthcare access. She also completed Henry Ford Hospital’s diversity, equity, inclusion and justice track with honors and was named Intern Ambulatory Resident of the Year for 2022-2023.
With her background in public health, Dr. Jordan understands that treatment is not one-size-fits-all. She works to identify and address barriers that may affect a patient’s care. “My goal is to understand each patient’s individual needs and help them overcome the barriers that may stand in the way of care,” Dr. Jordan said. “I want patients to have the education and resources they need so that they can make informed decisions to be able to reach their own health goals.”
Dr. Jordan will see patients at 8950 North Kendall Dr., Suite 400W, Miami.
